Taking the scenic route meant I ended up arriving in Missoula 2 hours later than planned on Wednesday night (and well after dark) but it resulted in some great pictures. Here are a few of my favorites:

Standing at the top of Lookout Pass, just inside the Idaho/Montana state line. At an elevation of just over 4600 feet, Lookout makes Snoqualmie Pass look like a bunny slope.

Finally made it to the halfway point. Or maybe just past halfway, as I’ve just driven 195 miles and google maps says I have 182 miles to go.
At least now I get to drive through the mountains, I forgot how long and flat and ugly the drive is from Ellensburg to Spokane.
