A few weeks ago, I thought I had the beta version of Windows 7 working on my iMac, using Boot Camp to boot directly into Windows. Turns out, I almost had it working. It was installed, I could log in and access programs, but it would lock up randomly, anywhere from 30 seconds to an [...]

Smitty the Server had a hard drive failure. Since that required re-installing Windows, I took the opportunity to upgrade to a quad-core processor first (which also required replacing the motherboard and memory) and install some new hard drives. Follow along as Smitty gets rebuilt!

The last two weeks have not been very pleasant. Sample:

1. work-Print server sharing 50 printers to 3 departments. Dead. 18+ hours to replace
2. home-one of my favorite fish. Fine Tuesday night, dead Wednesday morning.
3. work-the new phone system. So many issues, the phone guy spent 9 hours on the phone with support one day, and [...]

It’s never a good thing when I get bored. Things that aren’t broken tend to get “fixed.” Toys tend to get “upgraded.” Microsoft Windows (aka The Dark Side) tends to get re-installed.

And, thanks to shameless begging, I was able to schedule an on-site visit by a repair tech, so I didn’t have to haul my 24″ iMac through the mall to my nearest Apple Store.

As previously mentioned, I recently acquired a Samsung NC-10 mini laptop. In the past 5 days, I have set it up to do the following:

Surf the internet (duh)
Play music with iTunes (1500+ songs)
Play videos in iTunes (movies I own, and TV shows I’ve purchased from iTunes)
Play TV shows I’ve converted from DVD [...]
