Cleaning out the storage shed

Due to my dad moving house soon, it’s time time clean out the storage shed. About halfway through, this is the pile of “discard” boxes and other miscellanous crap. Drawers for a desk that went to the dump years ago. Lots of boxes. Boxes for electronics that have been gone for YEARS. Like the Speedstream 5250 DSL modem. Which turned out not to be gone, but tossed in a drawer in the shed. And CRT monitors. *shudder*

25 years of storage

And this is the “yet to be sorted through” pile.  Digging into that pile revealed things like an old DSL modem, boxes and boxes of “why did we keep this crap?” crap, and happily, a few of my childhood keepsakes. Probably 75% of what’s in this picture will go to recycle, donation, or the dump.

25 years of storage

Buried in piles of random, out-dated crap in the storage shed, I found the can from the “Canned Alaskan Polar Bear” that my dad brought home from Alaska when I was little. Like, 20 years ago. This is a prime example of the random crap that should not have been kept. (Now, I wonder where I put the actual canned Polar Bear? Because it wasn’t in the can.)

Let this be a reminder to you, folks: Just because you have the space to store it, doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
