Shock! Wonder! Amazement!
When I moved the desk and fish tanks around a couple months ago, I inadvertently got rid of Peanut’s favorite sleeping spot, burrowed down into the pillows stuffed between the end of the couch and the CD shelves. A few weeks ago, I put a shelf back in that spot, with a small cat pad on top. She slept there, but let it be know that it just wasn’t the same as having nice soft pillows to burrow down into. So on the way home tonight I stopped at PetSmart and looked at cat beds. Knowing that this is a cat who prefers my blankets and clean laundry to any fancy cat bed, I picked up a green corduroy Whisker City Plush Cat Bed anyway. And made sure that the “Satisfaction Guaranteed” return policy covered “my cat hates this and refuses to use it.”
Much to my amazement, when I put the new cat bed on Peanut’s shelf and set her in it, she not only didn’t hate it, she actually loved it!
Now the other kitties are jealous because Peanut got a nice new bed and they didn’t get any presents. So I guess I’m headed back to the pet store tomorrow for catnip toys and another nice cat bed. All of which I’m sure they’ll ignore.
