There’s something fishy about this weekend
Between work, life, and sprained ankles, I haven’t had as much time to put into my fish tanks lately as I usually do. So this weekend, I’ve decided it’s time for some serious maintenance.
To start the weekend, I took the 6 Congo Tetras that lived in the 46 gallon bowfront tank back to the store. I loved my Congos, they were beautiful, but they were also completely psychotic, and their tank was growing algae instead of plants, and therefore in desperate need of a rebuild.
I spend most of today cleaning out the 46 bow tank, then putting in the new plants I bought at the fish store yesterday, and moving plants over from the 40 gallon stretch hexagon tank that the Cherry Barbs lived in. Once the plants were set and the filter was cleaned, I moved the Cherry Barbs into the sparkly clean 46 bow tank. They are very excited to have more space, and have spent most of their time so far playing in the filter current on the back wall.
The 40 stretch hex is the next tank on the rebuild list. With all the plants and fish out, it’s not in very bad shape, but it needs to be drained anyway so I can move it over by my desk before rebuilding it with the plants and fish that are currently in the 28 gallon bowfront tank.
Of course, in order to move the 40 stretch hex over by the desk, I have to move the desk. See, the 40 hex is about 6 inches longer than the 28 gallon tank that is currently by the desk. Fortunately, there is an 8-inch gap between the desk and the couch, so I have enough space to move the desk.
Before I get to all that desk moving and tank shifting, though, I think I need to prepare myself with a nice little nap in the sunshine.
