Hello, Dark Side. I’ve missed you.
It’s never a good thing when I get bored. Things that aren’t broken tend to get “fixed.” Toys tend to get “upgraded.” Microsoft Windows (aka The Dark Side) tends to get re-installed.
So last night, being bored, I decided to see if I could install the Windows 7 beta on my 24” iMac. Not for any real reason other than I was curious. So I searched the internet to see if anyone had done something similar (of course they had) and found a couple sets of instructions that looked nice and simple.
Those instructions didn’t count on NVidia and their typically crap beta drivers. 9 hours and 6 re-installs later, Windows 7 was “working” on my iMac, as long as I didn’t install video drivers. Of course, no video drivers meant really ugly video quality on the 24” screen. I couldn’t live with that, so I finally broke down and tried the 64-bit version of Windows 7, which I’d been avoiding because there were reports that Bluetooth didn’t work, and I need Bluetooth to connect my fancy wireless keyboard.
1 hour later, Windows 7 was up, running, had a working keyboard, and was even mostly stable.
Never mind cookies, the Dark Side has Blu-ray.
