Garden Project
A few years ago, I was inspired to create a small raised garden outside my patio door. I raided Mom’s greenhouse, and ended up with Tiger Lilies, Day Lilies, a lavender plant, and some Vinca Minor (aka Periwinkle) to use as ground cover. The theory was that the lilies would grow nice and tall above the vines, and the Periwinkle would keep weeds from growing. In reality, the Periwinkle has taken over, and killed the lavender plant as well as some tulips I added later on, and is doing it’s best to kill the lilies. This is not acceptable, and I have decided to remove the Periwinkle, add some crocuses and tulips, and deal with the weeds as they appear.
So this morning, the sun was out, it was kind of warm, and I went out to face my foe:
But my foe is strong, and well rooted, and after an hour, this was all the progress I had made:
I have retreated temporarily to regroup, re-plan, and enlist re-inforcements.
