Woohoo! Kindle books on iPhone!
Amazon released their rumored Kindle App for iPhone today! I’ve already downloaded and installed it, and it’s great for those times when I can’t or don’t carry my Kindle with me.
While books can’t be purchased directly from the iPhone app, any books that have been previously purchased can be accessed and downloaded. Plus, the iPhone shows up as a reading device when you purchase new books through the Amazon Kindle bookstore on the Amazon website. Samples can also be sent to the iPhone, and at the end of the sample is an option to purchase the book. After a book is purchased on the iPhone, you can go to “Archived Items” on the Kindle and download it.
I’m sure some people will complain about the lack of purchasing ability, the lack of landscape mode, and who knows what else, but I really like the app. It’s a great filler for those times the Kindle isn’t handy and I have to fill some time with reading.
PS: It works on the iPod Touch, too.
