Shiny New Toy (yes, another one)
I blame this on the boss. He went to Costco the other night, and came into the office the next day with an HP Mini 1000 “NetBook” which is basically a really tiny laptop. Now, I’ve been thinking about getting a similar one for a while, just contemplating that it would be a nice thing to have, useful for work and surfing and as a portable media player. But I’ve been putting it off, until I got to play with the HP Mini. I went right back to my desk and ordered a Samsung NC10 Netbook.
It’s a shiny little black notebook PC, about the size of a hardback book. Unlike most other netbooks, it has a normal keyboard layout, and the keyboard is about 90% of normal size, so it’s easy to type on. It has a 160GB hard drive in it, so I can store plenty of videos to watch when I’m bored. Built-in wireless internet means I can surf from anywhere.
In addition to being a speedy little machine, it is a speedy little machine that runs the beta version of Windows 7 REALLY well. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. In fact, the beta version of Windows 7 runs better than Vista did when it was released.
So I’ll be spending some time this weekend getting some movies, tv shows, and music transferred over from my main computer, and setting up all the video players I need to watch streaming video from Netflix or Amazon or anywhere else on the internet.
pardon me while my eyes spin in my head….@@ @@ @@ @@ why couldn’t you just buy ME a laptop? huh?
