Cheesy Bread!!!!
If you’ve ever eaten at a Claim Jumper restaurant, there’s a good chance you’ve tried their Garlic Cheese Toast appetizer, commonly referred to among my friends as “Cheesy Bread.” The stuff is amazing and delicious, and I tend to order a platter as an appetizer, a few more pieces with dinner, and then a platter to go. It reheats really well as leftovers. I’ve been trying to recreate it at home ever since I first tried it, and I have finally come close enough to consider it a success.
Requirements:
- Thick-sliced sourdough bread (I cheat and use sourdough English Muffins for single-serve)
- Margarine or butter
- Garlic Salt
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese (again with the cheating, pre-shredded Tillamook Medium Cheddar in a bag)
Warm the bread in a toaster over (or oven, for a full batch) until it is warm enough to melt margarine. Remove from the toaster oven, spread margarine on bread. Sprinkle bread heavily with Garlic Salt. Cover with shredded cheese.
Return bread to toaster oven (or oven) and toast until bread is crispy and cheese is melted.
Yum!
