Love and Other Disasters – a mini movie review

Light, fluffy, and amusing.

Love and Other Disasters arrived on DVD from Netflix today. The timing was good, because I was in the mood for something light and cute. And this movie was definitely cute. Which is not a bad thing. Starring Brittany Murphy and a few other recognizable but not necessarily well-known actors, it’s the story of a girl living in London, and her search for love for herself and her friends. The movie certainly earned it’s “R” rating for nudity, language and sex scenes, but none of it seemed gratuitous.

Unlike another movie I watched recently *cough*Fool’s Gold*cough* this one knew exactly what it was, and stuck with the formula. The whole movie was light and upbeat, without a single “downer” moment in it.

“Love and Other Disasters” may not be the best movie of the year, but it’s a fun and happy way to spend an hour and a half.

P.S.-If you are homophobic or offended by nudity, this movie is not for you. Too bad, your loss.
